Kashmir Lesnick-Petrovicz is a nature, documentary, and portrait photographer based in Canada. Inspired by the beauty of the world and the human stories within it, she captures moments that reveal the extraordinary in the everyday.
She currently lives in Oshawa, Ontario, on lands within the traditional and treaty territory of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Anishinaabeg, signatories of the Williams Treaties, including the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, Hiawatha, Curve Lake, and Alderville Nations, and the Chippewas of Georgina Island, Rama, and Beausoleil First Nations.
Kashmir documents both the beautiful and the mundane with a minimalist eye, focusing on details, form, and tone. Through her lens, she captures the emotions and identities of her subjects, aiming to connect with her audience through both candid and carefully crafted moments.
Kashmir holds a dual BA in Global Studies and Visual Arts from Vancouver Island University (2024). Her studies have provided her with a deeper understanding of humanity's interconnectedness with the environment and global issues such as climate change, refugee rights, and food insecurity. For her, photography is a powerful medium for conveying impactful stories and fostering connections that drive meaningful change.
